To make it easy for users to follow the route, make as clear as possible directions as to which way the walker or cyclist should go at the route point.
Take a look at the example route for this and it will become clear.
The walker or cyclist therefore follows the route from route point 1 to the last route point.
This can be an end point of the route, but can also end at the starting point.
